The Summerhaven 10.65 at sunset in Phang Nga Bay

The Summerhaven 10.65 Ceberus has arrived in Ao Yon! We HAD to take her for a sail in Phang Nga Bay and we loved it! We took a lot of photos for you all to see when you click here
We have 2 more Summerhavens 10.65 on offer. Ceberus sister Chimera and the same but open deck, Charro. They all can have 6 people sleeping on board and more people for luxurious day cruises or island hopping. Good for racing in the regattas too!
**We still have a second Firefly available for the upcoming December Kings Cup and all 2009 Asian regattas!!

Netherlands
It was very good to be in the Netherlands, meeting old friends, promoting Thailand as a top sailing destination, racing the Flevo Race, visiting family (not necessarily in this order), eating food we can’t get here and enjoying Amsterdam. But Phuket is our home and our dog Doppie wacked his tail nearly off when we came back, all in all 2,5 weeks of positive emotions.
Most asked question in the Netherlands: ‘Are there pirates in Thailand?” Believe us dearly, No there is absolutely no piracy in Thailand and the Andaman Sea, zero zilch. The coastal people have a good life and they have no need to be criminals, which is the footprint of piracy. On sea you only meet fisherman offering you to buy their fish…

Flevo Race
We sailed on a J-120 from Donald en Carolien. There were over 100 entries in many classes, from high tech mono hulls, to traditional trading and fishing boats. The start was from Enkhuizen on the Northern part of the IJsselmeer, a huge inland sea, where some years ago, in the 17th century, English and Dutch teams sailed for the Cannon Ball trophy. All in all three days of good racing! A bit cold but good fun! Click here to see the photos

Back to work

Two days after arrival we left with Robert and his friend Weng on the Frog for a fantastic 3 day charter into Pang Nga Bay, all four of us were in awe about the unlimited visibility, mountains 80 miles away were clearly visible. We sailed through Pang Nga Bay on its best. In September!

Robert a keen regatta sailor and his colleague Weng from Singapore wanted to see how a Firefly operates in the cruising mode, and after 3 days they was quite impressed. All weather conditions we encountered, blue sky, a nice cool overcast and a typical September blast. All highly entertaining stories at our traditional ‘finish beer’.

** A long time Phuket Character, builder of most marine websites on Phuket and Rolien’s personal website teacher, Andrew Morton or ‘Android Humanoid’ has passed away suddenly on Thursday the 18th of September. We will miss him!

Did you know that:

* A new marina has opened on Phuket, at Ao Po, about 15 miles north of Cape Panwa. The perfect base to start from sailing Phang Nga Bay, and in the future excellent living and entertaining facilities. More info here

* We are now offering Weekend Getaway trips , 2 days sailing overnight on one of the comfortable Summerhaven catamarans. Relax, get completely away from your daily life and explore the amazing natural surroundings of Phuket. Private charters for up to 6 people. Including Thai cook. Please inquire for more details here
Maybe to far for our European readers, but very feasible for those who live in Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and sure also for Phuket residents.

* If you want to race with two Fireflies with a group of friends, clients, guests? Possible! We have experienced crew to guide you into a most exciting sporty weekend.

* ASC Sailing charters has set up special Eco-trips to Koh Lone. A beautiful off the main track island south of Phuket. You sail 2 days and stay in a cosy homestay with a Thai family. See the school, the tidy village and do a trek over the island with a guide. More information here

 * Some people want to use Ko Aeo, and Hamburger Hill (for the locals) to breed and feed monkeys from South Africa. So tourists can watch a monkey eat a banana, a major attraction!

*You can now join-in the Chalong races on a Firefly, the Frog.  For only 1950 Baht incl entry fee, drinks on board and club barbecue!! Schedule on www.acycphuket.com

*We have now a contact form for easy use on our website www.andaman-sea-club.com
The website is constantly being renewed. Please have a look once in a while and give us feedback or suggestions.

Older news but still interesting:

* The Firefly Voodoo Child is for sale! Please see here for more information or contact us here

*In the September edition of the magazine Window on Lifestyle published by Image Asia, appears a renewed article about the Andaman Sea Club. You can see the latest version here
For people who just get to know us an interesting read.

4 of us left on the FROG for 3 day trip. The sailing adventure improved from day to day. Each corner provided more wind and more spectacular views of the Islands. The last day could not have been scripted any better in a movie. Bright, beautiful, sunny day; good boat speed (12 knots). On the horizon we see dark front slowly creeping up. We race for a hour trying to out run the storm front. The storm catches us; and then we get pounded with rain and sea water from every direction. We are also zipping along at a great speed ( estimate 28 knots). The only problem is the visibility is 20 m. We bring down the jib; to reduce speed and gain more control. I'm flat on the floor, with strange flashbacks of TITANIC. After another hour, the storm release it's grip on the FROG. The rain stops, the sun slowly peeps out. We sail back into cape Panwa; wet, tired and with a big smile . We enjoy the "Finish" beer..... perfect sailing adventure.

Hi Chris! We had a great time and experience learning how to sail. You are a very enthousiastic teacher during these 4 days. We really feel we have learned a lot and can sail a small boat on our own! Beside of that.....the finishbeers were great!! Regards Gert & Ingrid.

Firstly, i want to say what a fantastic time we had last week over the whole of the Phang Nga bay regatta, both sailing the Frog and then relaxing on board the Cyrene. You said at the outset that you wanted to create an unforgettable experience and you certainly did that! Thank you very much.

We enjoy the news on your weblog! We always sail on the Bodensee. We have been on holiday to Phuket 2 times. We never thought about sailing there. We have seen your website, but can you tell us what a five night trip on your boat costs. And can you also help us with a hotel??

Hi Chris, Big thanks for today. I had great fun and believe I absorbed some stuff that I’d never quite got to grips with, despite the hours I’ve spent on boats over the past few years. Your teaching style suits perfectly. Looking forward to Sunday. Gren
