Proud to announce that the Andaman Sea Club is the first sailing business member of the Greenfins project of the Phuket Marine Biology Centre
This project makes diving/snorkeling businesses more aware of the underwater world and how to preserve her best by surveying reefs, reef cleaning days and coral replanting.
Rolien became a volunteer for the PMBC and joined in the first actionday for the International Year of the Reef 2008 by collecting loads of Crown of Thorns, starfish that destroy the coral.

Andaman Sea Club is looking to expand awareness for the underwater world to the sailing businesses on Phuket. Mainly for the use of mooring buoys and knowledge on where and where not to anchor. The first Cape Panwa beach cleaning day February 23rd was a great succes and a fun day!
59 people showed up to clean the beach of Ao Tang Khen. Sri Panwa resort came with 25 people and the doctor of the health clinic volunteered to bring 50 lunches! It took about 4 hours to collect the 104 bags with 1210 Kg of plastic, glass and polysterene. Andaman Sea Club sailing charters and the Green Fins project by the Phuket Marine Biology center cooperated to organize this day.
To thank the volunteers we offered an hour sailing on the ASC sailing boat, the Frog!! 36 people came in 4 turns and enjoyed a good hour sailing. It made us happy that it were mostly Thai people, women and children that never had been sailing before, and we all had a lot of fun. |
